In this episode, guest Ashlee Wright, founder of Why Eat Wise, shares about shifting the focus from weight management to cultivating a healthier relationship with food and exercise. Melyssa and Ashlee discuss the importance of mindset in creating sustainable health changes, debunk myths surrounding nutrition and diet culture, and offer practical tips for adding healthy habits into daily life rather than focusing on restriction. Ashlee shares her personal journey of becoming a dietitian and later starting her own business, aiming to help women break free from the cycle of yo-yo dieting and guilt associated with eating. They advocate for small, achievable goals, self-compassion, and finding joy in healthy living as essential components of a lasting healthy lifestyle. Ashlee Wright, founder of Why Eat Wise, has been working as a dietitian for 13 years. She has seen so many women who are burnt out, disappointed in themselves, and who feel like shit because they never feel “successful” since they haven’t lost weight. But Ashlee wants to show women that it’s so much more than the number on the scale – that’s not even important! Diet culture has warped the brains of women and Ashlee’s is over it. It’s time to say goodbye to restrictive diets that make you unhappy and focus on what brings you joy and give yourself permission to eat what you love!
Ashlee lives in Orlando FL with her husband, 2 daughters – 7 and 2.5 years old, and their fur baby, Porter – a 11 year old lab mix. Ashlee LOVES to cook and it would be her dream to have a show on the Food Network some day. In her own words, “I’m also a bit obsessed with Friends and The Bachelor!”
