Nope, not a life coach - I am a double board-certified lifestyle medicine coach, and my focus is on helping clients make sustainable changes to improve their overall well-being. Rather than working on broad life goals, I specialize in guiding people through health behavior changes like improving nutrition, increasing physical activity, and managing stress—all while maintaining a weight-neutral, size-inclusive approach.
Lifestyle medicine is an evidence-based approach to lifestyle change that focuses on preventing and treating chronic diseases through adopting health promoting behaviors in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and relationships. As a lifestyle medicine coach, I collaborate with you as your trusted partner on the journey to optimal health, combining the principles of lifestyle medicine with expert coaching to empower you towards sustainable lifestyle changes!
No, I am not a weight loss coach. I believe in focusing on health behaviors rather than body size or weight. My coaching is centered around helping clients create lasting lifestyle changes that support their overall health and well-being, regardless of the number on the scale. I practice a weight-neutral approach, which means I don’t focus on weight loss as a measure of success but rather on how you feel, function, and improve your quality of life - although many of my clients experience weight loss as a welcome side effect of adopting health promoting behaviors!
Nope, I’m not a registered dietitian. I am a lifestyle medicine coach, which means I help clients adopt healthier behaviors and lifestyle changes that improve their overall health. While I provide general guidance on nutrition behaviors suggested by evidence-based practices, I always encourage my clients to work with a registered dietitian or healthcare professional for specific medical nutrition advice.
Coaching and therapy have different goals and approaches. Therapy or counseling often focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions and diving into past experiences to help clients heal and cope.
Coaching, on the other hand, is future-focused and action-oriented. As a lifestyle medicine coach, I work with clients to set and achieve specific health goals, like improving their nutrition, fitness, or stress management, through positive behavior change.
While we may talk about emotions and challenges, the primary aim is to guide you forward, not dwell on the past. Therapy is more suitable for addressing mental health conditions, while coaching is about building habits for a healthier lifestyle.
Unfortunately, I am not able to accept insurance for my coaching services. However, you may be able to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds to work with me! To do this, you'll need to get a note from your healthcare provider recommending lifestyle medicine coaching as part of your care.
I offer several options for working with me, depending on your needs and preferences! You can join my coaching membership for ongoing support, participate in one of my group coaching programs for a more community-driven experience, or choose individual coaching packages for a more personalized, one-on-one approach. Each option is designed to help you create sustainable lifestyle changes that support your health and well-being in a way that fits your life!
