The Professional Story

Melyssa Allen, MA, NBC-HWC, DipACLM, is a double board-certified lifestyle medicine coach and nationally recognized speaker on a mission to make sustainable healthy living accessible, evidence-based, and (dare she say it...!) actually enjoyable.

With a master's in clinical psychology from the University of Central Florida and over 15 years of experience in behavior modification, Melyssa has delivered 400+ presentations to corporate teams, healthcare organizations, veterinary associations, and women's events nationwide. Her work sits at the intersection of lifestyle medicine, positive psychology, and acceptance and commitment coaching — an integrated approach she began utilizing after years of working as a wellness manager, clinician well-being coach, and health educator inside major healthcare systems.

She is the author of Healthy Living Doesn't Have to SUCK, a bestselling lifestyle medicine guide now in its 2nd edition with an accompanying audiobook. Melyssa founded her business, Melyssa With a WHY, LLC, to bridge the gap between what the science says about lasting lifestyle change and what people are actually experiencing in their pursuit of health. Through keynotes, employee wellness workshops, group coaching, her membership community, and her podcast, she equips thousands of Change Makers with the tools to build healthier, happier lives — on their own terms.

Melyssa is also a recovering perfectionist, a passionate group fitness instructor, a wannabe backup dancer for Taylor Swift, the cat mom she NEVER thought she would be (yes, Jackie has his own Instagram page!), and someone who went from training marine mammals to training humans — a career pivot her friends agree makes total sense once you've met her.

A multipassionate, animal-loving boss b*tch with nothing more than passion, a laptop, and a stubborn belief that healthy living doesn’t have to suck, Melyssa has built a career helping people make lasting changes without giving up everything they enjoy along the way!

Through her book, her podcast, memberships, coaching programs, and speaking engagements, she helps busy humans build healthy habits that actually last...without the shame, the fads, or the guilt trips!

She is a double board-certified lifestyle medicine coach, yes...but she’s also human and someone who’s struggled with body image her whole life, who has lived in stretchy leggings because her jeans didn’t fit anymore, and who has fallen face-first into burnout more times than she’d like to admit...

Probably like you, she started in the trenches of diet culture, perfectionism, and self-sabotage! Even with degrees in psychology and biology, and a master’s in clinical psychology, she still wrestled with her own health and well-being. It wasn’t until she combined the science of lifestyle medicine with the tools of positive psychology and health coaching that things really began to click!
